Description	Black-and-white photograph of a student vigil in front of Alexander Hall on the campus of Jackson State College. Students held the vigil to protest the May 15, 1970, shooting of Jackson State student demonstrators by Mississippi law enforcement officers. The shootings resulted in the wounding of twelve students and the death of two, Phillip Lafayette Gibbs, a Jackson State pre-law major, and James Earl Green, a local high school student. Windows broken during the shooting are visible above the students. This photograph was taken for the Jackson-based publication Kudzu, edited by David Doggett. (Jackson State College is now known as Jackson State University.)
