Description	From the Bates (Gladys Noel) Papers. Typewritten letter from Robert L. Carter to W.A. Bender on letterhead of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, dated October 21, 1949. Carter writes of his travel plans to Jackson, Mississippi, October 24-26. He writes that he will take depositions from the Superintendent of Schools and several members of the Board of Trustees about discrimination and the salary structure for African American and white teachers. He requests that he be able to meet with members of the Mississippi Association of Teachers in Colored Schools (MATCS) and also asks that Gladys Noel Bates and R. Jess Brown be informed of his plans.
