Johnson
asks
that
Burns
prepare
a
power
of
attorney
as a
necessary
first
step
to then
request
that
African
American
children
in
Mississippi
schools
be
provided
with the
same
opportunities
for
school
that
white
students
had
(school
terms
are
shorter
for
African
American
children)
,
transportation
,
equpiment
, and
school
facilities
. The
power
of
attorney
would
authorize
Burns
to
prepare
a
petition
with these
requests
. The
school
district
to be
petitioned
had not been
decided
, but
Farmhaven
Consolidated
School
District
in
Madison
County
was
mentioned
as a
possibility
.
Johnson
also
writes
that
while
teacher
pay
is
of
interest
to
teachers
, the
inequities
he
writes
about
have a
broader
base
of
interest
(patrons
,
parents
,
community)
.
