Description	From the Bates (Gladys Noel) Papers. Typewritten letter from A.L. Johnson to A.J. Noel on the letterhead of Prentiss Normal & Industrial Institute, dated April 6, 1950. Johnson writes about the commitment of the Mississippi Association of Teachers in Colored Schools (MATCS) for Gladys Noel Bates and the plans to provide financial support to R. Jess Brown (in anticipation of his teaching contract not being renewed). Johnson also writes of the organizational history of the MATCS committee he had chaired, the addition of A.A. Alexander and N.R. Burger to the committee, and the new leadership by A.A. Alexander.
